The Hiding Place

Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch watchmaker who became a heroine of the Resistance, a survivor of Hitler’s concentration camps, and one of the most remarkable evangelists of the twentieth century. In World War II she and her family risked their lives to help Jews and underground workers escape from the Nazis, and for their work they were tested in the infamous Nazi death camps. Only Corrie among her family survived to tell the story of how faith ultimately triumphs over evil.

Here is the riveting account of how Corrie and her family were able to save many of God’s chosen people. For 35 years millions have seen that there is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still. Now The Hiding Place, repackaged for a new generation of readers, continues to declare that God’s love will overcome, heal, and restore.

  1. Corrie paints a vivid picture of each and every one of the characters so beautifully, each one has a personality and place in her story. Most striking is how quickly her life went from one of others relying on her to one of her relying on others and God. Even though she felt hopeless, she set her treasure in Heaven and trusted in God, lifting everything up to Him. She connects each one of her blessings with God and highlights the value of prayer and the Word.

Highly recommend, you won’t be able to put it down.

  2. I couldn’t put the book down. I took it everywhere with me until I finished it. The book is written in so much detail that I was able to step into her life and imagine myself in her world.
I was captivated by the life Corrie Ten Boom and her family lived. It was filled with so much of God’s love, and the heart to serve. Throughout her journey, I was able to see God’s wisdom, strength, power, faithfulness, protection, love, forgiveness, and healing. Corrie Ten Boom did experience many tragedies, death, pain, and suffering, but her life and her work is a testament that there is no pit, that God’s love is not deeper still.
Lastly, this is one of my favorite quotes in the book, and my prayer as well. “There are no ‘ifs’ in God’s Kingdom. His timing is perfect. His will is our hiding place. Lord Jesus, keep me in Your will! Don’t let me go mad by poking about outside it.”

  3. I really enjoyed this book. The Ten Boom family members are all so strong in faith and you could see that their faith is so pure and true. While this family lived through very trying times, you see that through their love and reliance on God, they are so strong and blessed. I especially enjoy reading about Betsie, Corrie sister. If I was to read any stories of Betsie without the viewpoint of Corrie, I would have not believed that the stories of such a instantly pure and kind person were real. Her natural empathy was unheard of to me, to be able to automatically pray for not only the victims but also the persecutor in any situation. Some of the lessons I took away from this book is to give thanks to God more, pray more for others, and when I am unable to love or forgive ask God for his love and forgiveness to remind me that I am limited in my love but God is overflowing with love to be shared.

  4. I was so challenged by the simple faith of the ten Boom family. No matter what struggle they faced, they always put their trust in God even if they didn’t understand the purposes of their hardship at the time. It was amazing to see God’s faithfulness as well, that he would provide for them and show them the concrete ways he was allowing them to love other people. I was amazed at how much they were able to love others through simple acts. Their family was not very high in status, but they were such prominent members of the community because of their love for others, and willingness to take in or help any who had a need at the risk of their own lives.

  5. I read this book several times, and recently listened to the audiobook version during a roadtrip to Zion. Highly recommend this, as I felt it brought a fresh angle to the book.
