I’m so inspired by Eric Liddell’s life and family. His parents surrendered him and his siblings when they moved to China for mission work, leaving him and his brother at the tender age of 6 for many years while they ministered in China during the Boxer Rebellion. This legacy of wholly surrendered life passed down to Eric and his wife, who made the same sacrifice to serve God in China. As a mom, his life is a clear and simple manifestation to me of what it looks like to trust and serve God.

The story of Eric Liddell’s victory at an Olympic event he was not as well trained for was surprising enough. The story that he left to be a missionary was even more shocking. Eric’s heart for the Chinese and suffering that he took on towards the end of his life was apparent to those around him whom he served, and made Eric’s story inspiring to read.
