Becoming a Contagious Christian – Evangelism doesn’t have to be frustrating or intimidating. Bill Hybels and Mark Mittelberg believe that effectively communicating our faith in Christ should be the most natural thing in the world. We just need encouragement and direction. In Becoming a Contagious Christian, Hybels and Mittelberg articulate the central principles that have helped the believers at Willow Creek Community Church become a church known around the world for its outstanding outreach to unchurched people. Based on the words of Jesus and flowing from the firsthand experiences of the authors, Becoming a Contagious Christian is a groundbreaking, personalized approach to relational evangelism. You will discover your own natural evangelism style, how to develop a contagious Christian character, to build spiritually strategic relationships, to direct conversations toward matters of faith, and to share biblical truths in everyday language. This landmark book presents a blueprint for starting a spiritual epidemic of hope and enthusiasm for spreading the Gospel.
I really appreciate how clear, direct, and encouraging Bill Hybel’s books are. I felt personally challenged by Hybel’s formula to becoming a contagious Christian (High Potency + Close Proximity + Clear Communication = Maximum Impact), especially for the Winter Break. With Hybel’s clear teaching and personal examples of how this looked like in his and other Christian’s lives, I was encouraged to develop my High Potency as a Christian by using this time of break to study God’s work and spend more time in prayer and reflection, and to also prepare for the upcoming senior vision trip and rest of the school year. I realized I really want to be able to take advantage of this unique time in college to share the gospel with other students. Very thankful for the Winter Challenge, this book, and my leaders and peers who I see trying to live this vision out too.

Thankful for this read and Hybel’s model of emphasizing hight potency, close proximity, and clear communication. I’ve challenged by this book to live out my faith with an extra measure of boldness and sacrifice to continue to invest more into my existing relationships w/ non-Christians and to aim to reach more people. Really helpful tips for thinking of ways to reach people in addition to tips in guiding spiritual conversations!
